As a food reviewer of Restaurant World, I had the pleasure of sampling some of Maru Sushi's offerings, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed. The agedashi tofu, gyoza, and Hawaiian poke are just a few of the appetizers that showcase the chef's skill and attention to detail. The combination plate featuring beef teriyaki, salmon teriyaki, and an array of sushi rolls is a must-try for anyone looking to sample a bit of everything.
But what truly sets Maru Sushi apart is its commitment to customer satisfaction. “ Maru sushi is my favorite sushi place in the city. I've lived down the street for three years and tried lots of places. Maru is always delicious and consistent. Especially recommend the 49er, Cherry Blossom, and soft shell crab rolls & sitting at the counter is always so fun! ”
“ Came here Christmas Eve and it wasn't too busy. Though, if people realized how great this place is, it would've been much crowdier. They are super sweet -- to each other and to their customers (though I might be a bit biased because one of the employees called me very pretty hehe). 8/10 calamari. Really nice crisp but it's only a little more than a few pieces. 9/10 mango paradise roll. Really fresh (wished they used a sweeter mango tho but the mango they used was just fine :D) 9/10 cake and ice cream. The vanilla ice cream was perfect enough to balance the chocolate goodness of the cake! Maru sushi is a pricey spot (but I mean it's SF), but the ambiance was relaxing and music wasn't playing too loud. A lot of families were seated at the restaurant so it is kid friendly :) ”
“ Yummy sushi located in Nob Hill. Parking was a little challenging, but we figured it out two blocks down on Post Street. Fairly reasonable prices for fresh sushi . Portions of rice with the ratio of fish were perfect. I would skip their desserts next time. ”
“ I've never been here for dinner. This is a lunch-only review. I love it. I will plan my work day to include proximity to this spot if I have a sushi craving. It's just the sweetest little lunch escape from the mayhem and bustle of the city. Really good sashimi...especially their toro cuts. Good specials. Everything is satisfying. Nothing jumps out as extraordinary (okay no, see below for the exception) but it's ALL good or better. I come here because the atmosphere is so relaxing. Like I said, a total escape from the city. The staff is friendly and helpful. This is my peaceful sushi lunch spot. What was mentioned above about nothing standing out- today I tried the kappa sashimi roll. This a keto person's dream. A roll with no rice .....just a low-carb base of raw fish, cucumber, & roe. Also, their lunch bentos can be quite keto, as well. You could order the katsu, sautéed veggies, marinated sliced beef, sashimi, and then just hold the rice, maybe omit the salad dressing if you're avoiding seed oils or all added sugar. This place is peaceful, tasty, and gets the job done when it comes to lunch sushi. Will have to come back and check it out at dinner. ”
“ We checked out Maru for a quick dinner and shared a couple of nigiri orders and the tempura udon and soba. First the nigiri, both the hamachi belly and uni were pretty good and fresh for a small restaurant. I got the tempura soba which was pretty good with crisp tempura veggies and shrimp and overall a nice light meal. I preferred the soba over udon which was a bit salty but my friend thought it was a good comforting choice. ”
